The historic Italian Navy training ship Amerigo Vespucci arrived in Québec City this week, joining the 7th edition of the Rendez‑vous naval de Québec and offering residents and visitors a rare opportunity to tour one of the world’s most famous sailing vessels.

The Amerigo Vespucci is in port on the St. Lawrence River until July 27 as part of the North America leg of its 2026 world tour. The stop in Québec City precedes a visit to Montreal, where the ship is scheduled to be from July 29 to August 3. The tour was announced by Italy’s Defence Minister Guido Crosetto and is an initiative of the Italian Ministry of Defence and the Italian Navy, produced by Difesa Servizi S.p.A.
The Québec City appearance coincides with the Rendez‑vous naval de Québec, an international gathering of ships held on the city’s waterfront. For the 2026 edition, organisers said the lineup includes six large military sailing ships as well as three next‑generation vessels representing the Canadian Coast Guard, the U.S. Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy.
