GEORGETOWN — A juvenile has turned himself in and become the third person arrested in the attempted-murder investigation after a July 7 shooting in the 1900 block of Butts Street in Georgetown, South Carolina, Georgetown Police Chief Nelson E. Brown said.
Arrest follows earlier charges and search warrants
The youth surrendered to law enforcement with his parents early Saturday and was taken into custody and transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice, where he will await an initial hearing. According to police, the teen faces three charges:
- Attempted murder
- Shooting into a dwelling
- Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
This arrest comes after a 19-year-old, identified by police as Qua'lik Ky Leemi Lazaer Flowers, was arrested Friday following the execution of a search warrant at a home on Avant Court. Investigators reported recovering a 9mm handgun at that location which they described as having evidentiary value to the probe. A second search warrant was executed Friday in the Kent Road area as part of the ongoing investigation, police said.
Victim and previous arrests
Police found 19-year-old Jeremiah McNeal at the shooting scene on Butts Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities say a separate 16-year-old juvenile was previously arrested on July 22 and also transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice; that youth’s identity has not been released because of age.

Police have described the incident location as the area of 1921 Butts Street, near South Merriman Road. According to reports, the victim told officers he was walking through a path between Gilbert and Butts streets when someone he did not recognise opened fire after being dropped off in front of a nearby home.
