Alberta RCMP say incident occurred June 19 at Fountain Park pool
St. Albert — A 28-year-old man has been charged with voyeurism after Mounties allege he was seen looking into stalls and at children in the family change room at the Fountain Park pool, police said Monday.
Officers were called to the pool at about 5:40 p.m. on June 19 following reports of suspicious behaviour, the Alberta RCMP said. Witnesses told investigators the man had been observed peering over change-room stalls and looking at children who were changing.
The man ran from the scene when confronted, according to police. He was taken into custody a week later, on June 26, and has since been charged with voyeurism. Court documents show he is scheduled to appear in provincial court on Aug. 17.
Conditions on release bar access to community spaces
After his arrest, the accused was released on an undertaking that imposes specific limits on where he may go while the case proceeds. Those conditions include restrictions on attending places where children are commonly found.
- Not to attend playgrounds
- Not to attend schools
- Not to attend recreational facilities (which would include pools)
He has since been charged with voyeurism and has been released on an undertaking with conditions not to attend playgrounds, schools, or recreational facilities.
The RCMP did not release further identifying information about the witnesses, nor did they say whether any criminal charges were laid against the accused at the scene. The man charged has been publicly named by police as Sean Ryan Fenerty, 28.
Local consequences and community response
Incidents of this kind can have an outsize effect on how families use municipal amenities. The Fountain Park pool is one of St. Albert’s popular public recreation sites, and the family change room is intended to offer a private space for caregivers and children. Any perceived threat to that sense of safety can prompt questions about supervision, facility design and policing.
Municipal staff and police often respond to such incidents by reviewing security measures and public safety protocols, but the RCMP statement did not indicate whether the City of St. Albert or the pool operator has taken immediate steps such as changing staffing patterns, posting additional signage, or altering access to the family change room.
Parents and guardians who use the pool said safety is paramount and that clear communication from both the RCMP and the city about any changes to facility access would be welcome. Officials responsible for the pool were not quoted in the RCMP release.

Convictions can carry significant penalties, including potential jail time and registration requirements, depending on the circumstances and the court's decision.
Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact the Alberta RCMP detachment handling the case.
